Who needs financial planners?
Everyone needs financial planning. How
detailed that planning must be depends
largely on the amount you earned, your
assets and your goals. The more demanding
your goals are, the more extensive new
planning is likely to be.
What do financial planners do?
Financial planners are generalists who help
individuals develop financial plans with
specific objectives, component strategies to
meet those goals and monitor and
coordinate progress toward their
attainment.
What to look for in a financial planner
Solid formal education, traditional training,
credentials and continuing education.
As an economist, I provide a macro
economic, world perspective to your
finances which is especially needed today.
As an enrolled agent and certified financial
planner I am current in tax law and financial
planning issues.
The method of compensation for services
If the planner receives compensation
through commissions on investments,
insurance or other products they sell, you
have the right to question their bias in
selecting products for you.
I'm a fee only planner whose goal is to be
your advocate. My only compensation is for
the time spent working for you.
